Default A few questions before I buy an R6 next year.

So I am debating buying a 2007 YZFR6 next year if I happen to not be able to afford a BMW M3 E46. So since I don;t know too much about this bike I would like to find out what sort of issues are common with these bikes, what I should look out for etc. I've been in love with these bikes ever since I seen my first R1 many years back and then found out about the R6. Now of course the R1 is faster but I prefer the styling of the R6 and that super high 16000 rpm redline

And also since I will not be keeping this machine stock once I do get my own I would like to know which aftermarket upgrades you guys recommend. I'll be doing mostly aesthetic upgrades, I have my eyes on a few parts already: hotbodies undertail, flush-mount LED side markers by watsen design, aftermarket projector headlights or a possible HID projector retrofit(might attempt a DIY myself on that one) and a taylormade full exhaust would look and sound pretty sick I think.

So hopefully I get some advice here, it seems sorta dead but I have a few months to wait before I buy anyways. Thanks!

I've had my R6 for about two years now and I havnt had a problem (knock on wood). I maintain it regularly so as long as you keep up on maintainance just like any vehicle it should last you years. As far as upgrades go, thats user preferance, everybody is differnt. Get what you like and dont let anybody else tell you otherwise, unless of course you over pay for a part when you dont need to.
