just recently got a 2000 wr400fm (what the title says) from a friend who was having problems keeping it running... for a pretty cheap price
![]() well anyways what im trying to get ideas about are... the bike is kinda hard to start, when it does fire (with choke on) i will let it idle and warm up, turn off the choke and its almost like the choke is my kill switch... just dies flat in the water. any ideas? also if you even crack the throttle when its idling it just boggs instantly and cuts out then dies. my friend says he took the carb apart and cleaned it. not sure if i should listen to what he said or take it for myself to do. im not to familar with this 400 as im used to 2-strokes ANY help would be great thanks |

pull the carb off and clean it again with carb cleaner and compressed air. take everything apart that will come apart and blast away. a grain of sand will make you go gray in no time if you don't know what you are looking for. also write down what jet sizes you have, what needle you have and what position the clip is in... that way if you have problems when you get it back together, it will be easier to help you out.
