Default xs400 removing the seat

I just bought a great condition 1981 Yamaha xs400 Special, Less then 10K new battery ect ect, The seat wasn't on all the way so I took it off and lined up the parts and put it back on, I for the life of me cant get it back off. Any ideas?

so... I figured it out, Just behind the lock where you hang your helmet is a lever unlock that and the lever releases allowing me to *pop* the seat off So that's how you take the seat off a xs400, This thread can be closed and locked if needed.

Cool bike, post up a few more pics in an intro thread. Welcome to the forum. Gonna be a restoration project, or just something to cruise around on?
Not sure if they have it for your bike, but I know for the r6's if you go to yamaha-motor.com and creat an account under MY YAMAHA, they will ask you for the vin number of the Yamaha and you MIGHT be able to get a service manual. Again, not sure for your bike, but I know FOR SURE that the newer bikes the manuals are available for free.`

Hi & Welcome to the Forum,
I am very au fait with the XS400SE ( in the UK the model was called 'US Custom') so if you have any other questions regarding the bike fire away
Regards Jim
