Default Greetings

Just acquired my first bike yesterday. A 1981 xs 400 Special. 22,000 miles. Looks a little rough, but starts right up with the kick start. I had always wanted a bike, and finally convinced my wife that I wouldn't kill myself! I just figured out how to work the thing today, and was riding circles in the yard, as I don't yet have my permit. I can't wait to actually get out on the road!

That's a very common situation

Enjoy!

Thanks for the welcome! Yes, I have pics, will post them in a day or so.

I transferred the title, got plates, and got my learning permit today- passed with only one question wrong on the written exam! Took it out on the road after a brief session in the dollar store parking lot down the street. I'm sure it doesn't seem that fast, but after going 45 miles an hour for the first time on a motorcycle- I feel like a new man! I'm definitely hooked now...

I felt the exact same way the 1st day I got my bike. Went to a big parking lot, then after getting kicked out after 15 minutes I hit the road. A buddy was riding an 1970's suzuki 750 and at one point he took off. I tried to keep up, but when I got up to 50mph, I thought I was gonna fall off because it felt WAYYYYYYY too fast
Gotta love the first few times you're on a bike. Definitely will never feel like that again.

Nice bike, just looks like it needs a good cleaning.
