And also forgot to mention, it isn't my 1st yamaha.

I had a 96 blaster a while back. I loved that thing. I modified a whole banshee swingarm assembly with hydro brakes to it. (Father owns a machine shop) It ended up being slightly longer and +4 wide. I sold that for the 400ex, and currently still have the 400ex and my banshee.

His runs on pump gas. Even regular with no knocks or pings. We usually run mid-grade.
Yamaha dyno tuned it with a crank dyno. (Previous owner is friends with my dad. Has lots of money. Basically dropped it off at yamaha, said make it a little faster, so they through on the pipes and milled head, that's all)

I honestly don't remember, but I believe he said it ran 55 horse at the crank. Which is probably around 43-44 at the rear wheels. Never saw a banshee run so good for being almost stock, lol.

Mine is still a little faster though because of the open airbox and top end pipes. When we raced, we were even until I hit 3rd then slowly started crawling away.

Ok I see. I thought it had a more work done to it than there is. Thats a good amount of HP's though. once you get that work done to it, its going to scream! I know once you build up the motor on a Banshee they fly!

Yep. I want the baddest-ass banshee in the neighborhood, haha.

After crank, ill save up for porting, then save up for a cool head, then save up for suspension. It's gonna take a while, lol.

Sounds like you have a good plan in mind. May I recommend that if you're going to spend the money on a new crank you just spend the extra few bucks and get yourself a 4mil. Untill ported you could run with a spacer plate and at the time of porting you'd have your head re-worked or get a cool head with stroker domes. We sell the hotrods 4mill longrod cranks with max load bearing and extra weld for $450. Just throwing the price up to give you an idea how closely priced they can be. As for porting, who do you have in mind so far? I know of a lot of great builders around the country and can give you an experts opinion or recommendation on many of them. There are a few third rate rip-off artists out there too, I'd hate to see you get anything less than you're paying for. Let me know if you need any advice or if I can do anything for you.

Thanks Brandon I appreciate that!

I actually was going to go 4mil with the spacer plate, but as soon as I mentioned spacer plate everyone told me not to do that, because the port timing will never be right, etc.

And I was originally looking at Herr Juggs, Passion (But he's pretty expensive), and this guy 370 on another site, actually seemed to know what he was doing and was offering me a decent deal. But I take it you do porting too, correct?

I'll have to remember that crank. I like the idea of having the max load bearing and such.

I'm not a huge fan of the spacer plates myself for a few reasons, but if you're planning to purchase a crank and soon after some portwork it would be a great time to do it. Yes, the port timings aren't ideal with the plate and it is more prone to air leaks because it's one more gasket surface. But, as a temporary solution it would be ok. Yes I do portwork myself, I have done many a banshee motor. If you have any questions I would be very happy to answer them. Some sites that may have some feedback on my work are dunercentral.com, bansheecentral.com and bansheehq.com if you'd like to look around. You can also click on my banner on here and browse my website, it's still under construction but can give you an idea of what we offer.
