Default 2007 vx delux

I have a 2007 vx deluxe wave runner that will not go over 27 mph. The yamaha dealer put the wrong oil filter and oil in it. All the other dealer did was replace the oil and filter with the correct one's. They idle smooth and run strong until topping out @ 27 mph. When hooked up to the computer it does not show a defualt. Anyone having the same problem.

Welcome to the forum. Sucks but that's a great reason why I don't take my toys over to the dealer for basic maintenance.
Hopefully QuickMick will tell you what's up with your waverunner

Hold on, a CAR filter????? I am with xzpolskix, he would pay for that for sure!!!!

Ok well, this is what I am getting from this, the dealer messed something up with that crazy concoction he put on your bike! Can you find out what oil you are using NOW? I dont think it would make that big of a difference but it doesnt hurt to check! I am sorry you had to go through this!!

Not sure if it's the same with wave runners, but on some bikes you can use a car oil filter as your oil filter on a bike. With that said, if I was to go into a dealer they BETTER have a bike filter in stock since they work on Yamaha's not Toyota's!

how do you know it was a car filter? Did it have a pressure pop off ivalve inside of the filter?

Just so the filter was working correctly and the oil was a good quality I dont see how it would hurt it.

So what was the resolve for the 27 mph issue? or did you not get it fixed. Have you put in a new set of plugs? My buddy had one of the same ski's and it started running poor. Installed a new set of plugs and problem solved.

So did you find out why you VX blew a head gasket so it wont happen again? Did you get the head decked??
Did you check the TIR on the head and top of the cylinders?
