New to Waverunners and we just bought two older ones for our kids. One did not start it is a 1993 Yamaha VXR Pro Waverunner. Everything else looked good on it. When I got it home the the carb had water in it and rusted up the needle seat and retaining screw. Want to get a new carb but can only find newer models. So question is would a carb from a 1997 Yamaha Waverunner Waveraider 700 fit? The part numbers are really close and they look the same.
Thanks Kevin |

Hi. I would suggest that you order a carb rebuild kit from a dealer and consider doing it yourself. It may sound scary but I've done it on several of my own vehicles and I'm just a moderate mechanic.Take pictures along the way , it can come in handy. I am assuming that you have already removed the gas line to test for flow. Go to a parts store and buy a gallon of Berryman Chem-dip for about $20.00. After you have removed all the moving parts and gaskets and replaceable seats from the carb body soak it in the can for an hour, rinse it, blast it out with air and reassemble with new parts. The carb body is aluminum so chances are that the water has damaged the replaceable parts. C'mon, man up. This is not brain surgery. You can do it. Break a leg.
