Default Bike won't start. Solenoid does not click.

Hello,

My 1998 Yamaha Virago 1100 will not start. When I push the start button, all I get is a single click from the relay assembly underneath the seat (part 25g-01).

Solenoid does not click and starter does not turn. I have tested the relay and it works fine (no resistance). Solenoid and starter are brand new. Battery is a year old and is working well.

I'm not losing any voltage from battery to solenoid, but my solenoid is getting really hot. Starter will turn if I give it direct contact to the battery.

The bike will run just fine if I start it without using the ignition system (jump start it rolling it down a hill). So I'm fairly certain it must be some sort of electrical problem. Any thoughts on what it could be? Thanks

Have you checked your fuses?

The main fuse came with a 'backup' fuse right in the same case, and I've switched them out but got the same result. I suppose there is a possibility that both of them were bad.

Any other fuses I should check?
