Default 2008 Grizzly 450

The strangest thing happened the other day and wondered if this is something anybody else has come in contact with before. I was driving my 450 down a road and as I came to a 90 degree turn, I slowed down to make the turn and then my transmission disengaged. My motor was still running, my throttle worked fine, but it wasn't going anywhere. I took it out of drive and tried to get it into reverse, but it wouldn't go. I messed around with putting it into neutral and a lower gear, but each time it sounded as if the flywheel was having a hard time connecting to the gears...just made a grinding noise. I turned the bike off and restarted and was able to put it into gear. Is this something I need to get fixed, or was it just an electrical glitch and my restarting the engine helped reset everything.

It is not an old bike, it has super low hours on it (I have no free time to ride it), this shouldn't be happening. I don't want to be way away from home and this happen and I can't get it going again. That would be a long way to push it

First off, welcome to the forum!!! Good to have you!

Sounds like a glitch but it is hard to say.... after you got it working again, how did it shift? Everything normal?

It shifted fine and I got back home. I took it back out today and now it is doing something different. I started it up to get ready to ride and it had trouble starting now. So this shifting thing may have been a precursor to this. I switched my fuel tanks from on to reserve to see if it had something to do with that and then I heard liquid dripping out of the bottom of the engine. There is a drain tube that comes from the carburetor below the gas tank. Gas was leaking out of that tude when I had the reserve tank engaged. When I switched it back to the regular tank the draining stopped.

Funny thing is that when I had the reserve tank engaged, it would crank, but not start. When the regular tank was engaged, it would not even crank, just make a funny clicking sound. Has anyone had these problems before. This bike only has 8 hours and 10 miles on it. I have had it for about a year and a half. Could this be due to sitting with limited use?

Sounds like the clicking noise means your batery is dead. The switch through reserve and on was probably just a fluke thing. Sounds like an eletrical issue with the trany. Also with the reserve leaking a hose is probably just loose somewere or you have a hole in the hose.Check all of your electrical hookups and make sure they are properly plugged up and clean (all wires that have something to do with shifting). As for the reserve also check all the gas hoses.

The shifting thing dosent sound like it is any thing good!! I have a 03 yfm 450 , never ever had a problem ! I have 3968mi and 716hrs all I have ever done is tires , breaks , a belt and its first set of front wheel bearings tonight(well and of corse change the oil) the fule coming out sounds like the float is stuck from the gas varnishing up from siting and the clicking I agree the batt is ither dead or the starter soilnoid is bad! My friends griz 400 had a bad one not to long ago and that one is a 08
