If it's an 08, does it not still have some kind of warranty on it??? this sounds like it's still a new bike... why not to check with the dealer he bought it, maybe he can give you some pointers.

They didnt buy the extended warrinty. I think the initial warranty was a one year and it already ran out. But Im pretty sure it is the neutral switch ass. I talked to a few people with simalar problems and I guess yamaha switched to a new one in 09 and thats what we need. I called my local deeler and they evan keep the part in stock for 35 bucks. Just the fact that they keep it in stock shoow were not the first with the problem. I get of the boat on thursday so Ill pick one up and slap it on then ill lett you all know something. Thanks again for all your help.

This sounds exactly like the same problem I'm having, sorry I didn't read threw the post before I posted my own question. I had my reverse indicator switch replaced and it only fixxed the problem for about 2 and half days, now it's doing it again??? Should I take it back to the dealer and have them look for a short, I'm not very mechanical. Sure would like to fix this problem it's been a pain in my....
