I have a 2001 TTR-125 and can not get it to idle at all. I have to take the seat off and cover the air intake for it to fire, and then hold on the throttle to keep it running.
The so-called choke, which isn't a choke at all, doesn't seem to make any difference. I've rebuilt and cleaned the carb but still no luck. Any suggestions? Thanks |

Hello, I am not an expert but my sons TTR125 (2001) had the same problem, along with running hot, backfiring, etc. (Running lean)
Reading some advice on line, we cleaned the carburetor (all jets and all small orifices) and up sized the pilot jet to a #17.5 (stock is #15), and the main jet to a #110 (stock is a #105). We also removed the rubber snorkel on the air filter box and the bike runs SO MUCH BETTER.... easy to start, idles, crisp response etc. etc. no regrets. Te spark plug is looking great as well (light tan colour). Cheers! |
