Hey everyone, new to the forum and its good to be here, my dad needs some help so im posting for him
he has a 1985 Yamaha Venture 1100cc, beautiful bike bought last year, has about 160,000km on it, lots of life left in er. So march we were getting the bike ready for the season, battery was on a trickle charger all winter ( and always is when parked ), starter was toast end of last season so a new one was purchased ( i think it may have been a lightly used starter out of a parted out bike? got it at a huge place in Toronto that my uncle has been going to all his life for his MX bikes ), we got a part time mechanic we knew to put the starter in and the bike ran like a beaut. He was taking it last week to work and out around and it ran good, battery died though and he had to get boosted to get going. So he bought a brand new battery couple days ago, trickle charged it and brought it to get tested, has 13 volts and holding charge perfectly. So yesterday he took the bike out, when he hit the electric start the engine turned about half, paused.. then fired up, seemed like not enough power? so when he was riding 2 blocks from home the bike just stalled and died.. coasted to the side of the road and he went to hit the electric start and nothing happened at all.. pushed the big bike home and tried again and nothing. Today hit the elctric start just to try and there was like a click in the button and thats all. Now the electric start button feels a little sticky? but yah not sure what it could be, most likely taking it to the mechanic unless anyone can give me a clue or help me out. Thanks alot in advance guys and gals i appreciate it. Nick, |
