Default Don't laugh, training wheels ?

Ya I know, but please bear with me here.

My wife at age 55 or so, has decided she wants to quit sitting on the back of my bike and ride herself.
We picked up a Yamaha V250 for her to learn on, and she has enrolled in a riding class.

But she wants to know if you can get trainning wheels for this bike?
She's very nervous about driving a bike and her only exprience was years back and she crashed into a door.

She's hoping they will help while she practices learning how to operate the bike.
These would be used in something like a parking lot, not on the road.

I think I remember them years back but not sure.

Welcome to YF Al! I am not sure if they make training wheels for bikes. A good suggestion would to have her practice on a scooter. That way she can get used to riding a bike without having to balance all that weight.

Thanks for the welcome, good idea on the scooter but finding someone who will let us borrow one might be a bit difficult...

Can't say as I blame them, I'm hoping she gets though the class ok and doesn't need them, I think she's more nervous than anything.

That would be the only issue is finding a scooter for her to practice.

I am sure she will get through class fine. I am sure as she gets some seat time she will become more comfortable on a bike. I would tell her to be calm and enjoy it. That is the reason she is going to class so she can enjoy motorcycles!

Well, you were right, she hit her first class sat and called during lunch, she was so excited she could hardly talk, all went well.

Today she finishes her class and hopefully passes her license test.

No need for the training wheels after all.

Thanks much.

Only problem she has is with her small hands she has a hard time reaching the front brake lever, I'm thinking after market levers are availible maybe?

That is good to hear! I am glad she got over her fears and now she is able to enjoy it. Good luck on her test!

I am sure they have levers out there that are adjustable.

Did your wife know how to drive a manual transmission (car) prior to taking the course? I ask because my wife tried to drive a stick shift once and was completely frustrated. Don't know if she will ever want to ride, but she has said that she knows she couldn't do it. Glad to hear all went well for you and your wife.
