It works off of engine coolant temperature.
a couple things come into play here. The engine has fins on it, which do help dissipate heat. In hotter air, the engine temp increases some...and the fins can't dissipate the heat as fast. When the air cools down, the fins help dissipate engine temperature faster when combined with the coolant flowing through the radiator, the coolant doesn't get as warm, and won't turn the fan on nearly as often. |
