Unhappy 2005 V-Star 650 idles up in gear back to normal in neutral

Recently my V-star has been idling up in all my gears when I hold the clutch in. If I put a strain on the engine it will idle back down for a while then it will idle back up again.

Here's the kicker. It only does this in gear when I hold in the clutch. When it idles up if I shift into neutral it will idle back down to normal until I shift into a gear again.

Does anyone have an idea on what is wrong and how to fix it on a budget.

Bought the bike to go back and forth to work mainly as a way to save money on. Have elderly parents that I know take care of and money is tight.

Any suggestions on repairs would be greatly appreciated.

Well man, My bike was doing the same thing. Once warm, the bike would rev up anytime I pulled the clutch in. It was a gradual climb until I released the clutch a little and let it start to grab. BUT, if I clicked into N at stoplights or what have you, then it wouldn't do it. I put new exhaust on the bike and it got worse. Once I had the carbs rejetted, the bike runs flawlessly. No more high idle! If you start the bike, let it warm up, and then rev the engine it should immedialtey go back to idle. If it takes it a few seconds to get back to idle, I would rejett. Im no mechanic, but it sounds like the problem I had and thats how I fixed it. Good luck!
