I've got a 1982 XT200 and the carburetor boot from the air filter box to the carburetor seems to have shrunk about 3 mm. It is supposed to be 113 mm long and now is about 110. I'm having trouble getting the carburetor to stay attached to the boot. The Yamaha parts department here in Fairbanks, Alaska says that part has been discontinued. I've seen used one on Ebay but those most likely are too short too.
Any suggestions on where to get a new part? In the mean time tonight I'm going to disconnect the rubber hose (intake manifold) from the engine. Then reconnect both sides of the carburetor to their respective rubber boots with clamps making sure there is adequate overlap of the rubber onto the carburetor. Then reattach the intake manifold to the engine with those hex screws. Hopefully there will be enough stretch available to everything to remain air tight with good contact. I soaked the rubber boot in kerosene for about an hour, dried it off and reassembled everything. The rubber seems to have adequate overlap on the carburetor now.
