Default Please help!!

Hello all, I hope some one can help me. My YFZ when in gear and I try to start it, when pulling in the clutch it doesnt go into neutral. When putting it in nutral and starting its fine, but jumps when started in gear with the clutch pulled in. Its must be still engaged, but not sure what to look for. Can some one please help?

Also I have removed my neutral switch, so could I have lost ground?

I am sure you can adjust your clutch cable so your clutch dis-engages fully. You should have at least 1/4" free play in your lever when not pulled in before you feel the clutch start to dis-engage. Your manual should have instructions on how to do that. The neutral switch would not make a difference.

I did already adjust the cable. Could it possibly be since I have been building my motor back up the clutch plates have been dry. Could they cause this problem if they are dry?

That could cause the problem. With the engine in neutral, work the clutch lever back and forth to try to get oil between the plates. Let the engine warm up first to get the oil flowing.

I believe it's just a simple miss adjustment. Have you tried the adjustment on the clutch perch? If not here is a link to a schematic for the perch. Number 8 is what you are looking for. Just pull the rubber boot that covers the adjustment knob, then turn the adjuster counter clockwise to remove excess slack. Be sure to leave a little play...maybe an eighth of an inch. Hope this helps and good luck!

If you still have troubles try to make a thing on bluetraxx.com I really don't like the whole group of guys to much but they all know everything about the YFZ and i'm almost sure they will solve the problem.

How many hours are on the clutch? If it's not an adjustment issue it could be a worn clutch basket. I have seen them on several quads where the basket it grooved bad enough from contact with the plates that it won't release when the clutch is pulled. I would look into adjustments first though.
