Also I have removed my neutral switch, so could I have lost ground?
Hi Maverick
so you have a dragging clutch ! so looking at the diagrams supplied via techguy the motor uses a push rod which activates a release bearing against the pressure plate part 6 in the diagram and the bearing being parts 17~19.
which could be a major form of clutch drag. But again looking at the diagrams the plain plates, part 7, it is indicative that they should be lined up correctly with part 5 ( a slight lump on part 7 to its outside and a dot mark on part 5 should all line up. Then take into account parts 13 & 14 they also should be in good condition or replaced
Regards Jim

I am not quite sure. I would have to guess, I would say 20 hours. When I looked at the plates they looked fine. Felt a littel hard though. Basket is fine. I have a new hinson basket. I did all the adjustments and no go.

Ya i did and I swear all of those guys are uppity! I got nothing from them. I have asked for help from them before with no answers. I think you have to live on the west coast to be in the "cool group" i guess.

Parts 17-19 i am going to look at. All other parts are in good shape. What gets me is before I took it apart it worked fine. So the only thing it could be was assembled wrong. I took it apart and to make sure it was right and it was.

Hi Eric
perhaps its as simple as the plain plates are not lined not lined up with the boss (part 5) I did so many repairs because of this back in the 70's (users fitting new friction plates and not aligning the plain plates) and no clutch !!! £40 per pop then (plus oil & bits) and 15 mins to do !!!
Regards Jim

Clutch slipping? I had that happen on my RZ on the top end.

That sounds like clutch slippage to me. I would pull out the clutch fibers and see if they are burnt or wore down. Also make sure all the steel plates have pits in them and are not worn smooth. When you get to a certain point in the power band (say half way through the gear) does it seem to just stop pulling and rev out?
