Default Oil loss please advise!

Hi guys, first thread here just signed up. I just turned 30 and bought my self an 03 yz250f as a birthday gift to myself. Anyways i performed the normal stuff oil change tires suspension setup ect. Took bike out for the second time and about twenty minutes into the ride i noticed oil all over the case. Imediatly shut is down and detected the oil was pouring out of the bolt in the head. the Bolt is the one that the manual says to crack a bit to make sure you have oil pressure. This was totally missing. The bike was not rapping or ticking or anything i just had noticed oil burning on my pipe, i was in tight woods at low RPMS. After pushing bike back to garage i dropped remaining oil, about 3/4 the oil capacity was lost. Got the oem bolt an washer and refilled oil. havent started bike yet, just woundering if anybody has had similar experience or any thoughts on probable damage or precausions i could take, i know tighten up the bolt next time. thanks for any help

I've had a few instances of oil loss. You did the right thing by shutting it off and getting it back home. If the new bolt you purchased successfully stops the leak, and your engine isn't knocking, then it's a win-win. You don't have much choice here . . . you have to start it back up and see.
