Default Newbie YZF750R

Hey all, just picked myself up a 1994 YZF750R for a track bike project.

Has been in storage for a while but I know from an insurance cover note I found the previous owner had it running in November 2010 and he assured me of the same.

I'm encountering problems trying to get it to start. Jumping off car battery it turns over fine but wont fire. Pulled tank and airbox lid off, no filter

Turned it over while giving a squirt of aerostart and pouring a bit of petrol thru carbs and sort of fires but barely runs for a few seconds then dies with throttle wide open.

I notice on 1st cylinder's carb (furthest left when sat on bike), some fuel mist sprays back up thru carb when cranking over (much more than on other cylinders anyway). Is this the sign of a poorly sealing inlet valve??

Compression check next? Clean carbs? Any thoughts anyone, please.

Thats where I would start, clean the carbs and fuel tank, Put in new spark plugs, a new air filter! And see what it will do!

Ok, found using an ignition tester I have on spark. All other electrics seem to be working fine, fuel pump whirring nicely.

Any usual suspects for no spark on these??

I would check the ignition coil assembly, it sends the stored charges to the sparkplugs.
They are parts 4 and 5 under electrical one on [Only registered can see links. ]
