Welcome to the Forum

An FZR1000 with a novice rider what would you expect ? I presume you me the FZR thou from the late 80's if so with being a novice in the wet I am amazed you lived to tell the tale.
Mind you I do feel the US regard to training & testing is somewhat lacking, it's like the UK's approach back in the 70's .. needless to say in the modern day UK you may have been better prepared on what to expect !
It's not your fault just out dated or lax laws in the US.
If you have a few years riding under your belt you may notice that the FZR1000 you have may have a tyre problem

Hi there, thanks for the vote of connfidence lol. I have since taken the bike out in the dry all is well, been getting used to it. Sorted out a couple of niggles, one being the servo and valve, that is why it was a bit hairy in the rain that night had to drag the clutch at high revs to get away, valve was stuck open!!. Another question if i may, the oil level window, there is no level showing does that mean its full? The oil light goes out on start up, but i did have an oil light come on on the motorway just for a moment, then went back out, not come on since. but i was excelerating hard, is this a problem. cheers
look forward to your reply.

the oil light will come on on some of these bikes as you turn the key and the fuel pump charges the carbs, the light should go off after a second. Also, the oil viewing window should appear empty or nearly so when on the side stand, but around 1/2 to 3/4 when stood upright.
