86 fz600 won't charge please help

My fz600 started to run horrible pulling into work. the lights started dimming and was not firing right. I shut it off and immediately tried to start it again but it had no juice. I put it on the charger and it started but as soon as I took it off the charger it died. I put a new batts bery in it and drove it for a half an hour before it did the same thing. What could be the problem? I would appreciate any and all responses and desperately need to have this running

you are probably having problems with your stator, which is the electric engine that recharges your battery as you ride. If you're lucky, its not the stator and it is simply the cdi box that controls the spark, or the vr which regulates charge on the entire electrical system
