Default Fugly FZ8

I am really disapointed in this new Yamaha. It's ugly, under powered and way too expensive. I will be keeping my FZ6 and if I was going to get something different it probably would be a FZ1. What do all you members think?

Personally I'm not a fan on the fz's mainly because they come naked. The fz6r has the fairings, but too upright of a riding position for me so the fz8 is automatically out. I think Yamaha would have done a lot better to make a middle bike in the SS category.

A lot of people want something like a gixxer 750 but don't want to go the Suzuki route. But then again, I'm sure Yamaha researched it and decided this would give them a good return so what do I know?

We need to drive test it before judging it according to some early feedback i heard that it feels great, powerful and smooth.

I have an FZ6 and it's not naked. I absolutly love it. The FZ8 has not much more power that my 07 FZ6. If I was going to upgrade to that class of motorcycle I think I woud get the Triumph Speed Tripple. Less money and way more motorcycle. I'm a Yamaha guy but the FZ8 is not anything they should have produced at this time. I guarantee it won't be very popular. The FZ6 is super popular and should not have been discontinued. These are just my opinions but that seems to be the popular thoughts on the FZ6 forum also.

What year is your FZ6? And I agree with you, I don't think the fz8 will do all that great but then again maybe they weren't aiming it for the US market.

Cool Adam, Let us know the real scoop. The guys on the FZ6 forum have ripped the new FZ8. I went to my local dealer yesterday and they don't have any in yet. Thanks

Tribser speed triple !!! built by monkeys from Coventry .. it may be a nice bike but I guess with UK/BP bad press a Tribser may be a bad bet in the US. I would guess the FZ8 motor will be better than the triple ... but I guess it's up to you !

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder I guess, I just bought one last week and its a hell of a lot sexier than my last bike , a Honda cbf600n (not thats anything to go by!) I find Honda bikes to be a bit souless, but thats another story.

The reason I chose the FZ 8 was that it was demo model going for a grand less than the sticker price as it was a demo. I was looking for more power than a six hundred but didnt want the full race seating position as I commute daily on the M1 into London and found that 600's are working too hard for one hour long 100 MPH trips and being bent over with so much weight on my arms to be just as much work for me.

It turns out that the FZ 8 ticks all the boxes just nicely, it has ample power and speed, its an easy handling bike at low and high speed. I havent got it past 125 on the motorway yet, but with the RPMs at 7000 in top gear it feels like there is lots left. Its not overpowering, over thirsty, or over £10,000 like a Z1 either. I suppose there arer other bikes that will dio the same thing but I am pretty happy with mine
