Default Buying a Gun Advice

Hello -
So we decided to buy a gun, I will be going to the gun show very soon to get all the procedures to get my licence.
Since I'm new to this, I have no clue what to buy as a gun: brand/specs/etc
Anybody knows about guns? Which make/model/etc I have no clue about what to get except I need a slick, nice one and that won't be jammed. I also heard that Glock are good semi automatic guns

Damn man. I was kidding about coming down to FL and slashing your tires!

Seriously though, go to the gun show and look around. Never been to one, but I'm guessing guns will be layed out so pick 'em up and see what feels good in your hands.
After you get it, go to a shooting range so you actually know how to use it if you ever need to.

What kind of advice is that?

Well that is the difference if you are going to carry it or not. That will depend on the size of the gun you get. I personally like a compact size. I have a Taurus 24/7 pro 40 S&W which is a compact. Unless its a sub compact with a little bit of an extension of the clip. Do you know the caliber you want?

Whatever you do, get a silencer. Even if you get a shotgun

I'm not sure about the caliber but 9mm sound popular? I was looking at Glock website and i was looking at the GLOCK 19:

9mm is not bad. Caliber is all personal preferance. I like 40 because its not too big like a 45 but it has stopping power. Plus i can get 16 in a clip instead of 7 like a 45. Springfeilds, Kimber, Colt are good guns. Glocks are not bad either but to me I think they are just a name.
