Default 1997 Timberwolf Valve

Can someone tell me how to adjust the intake and exhaust valves on this motor? I just finished installing a new top end on it and it now backfires through the exhaust when I let off the throttle. I'm thinking the valves need adjustments.

Thanks in advance.

Default 1993 timberwolf 2x4 is fowling the plug in 3 hrs

Hi,
This my first time on this forum.
I have a 1993 yamaha timberwolf and I have just replaced the piston rings, timing chain.
I have checked the compression and its good (125psi)
My problem is it does not idle all the time and it fowels the spark with dark black soot after only 3 or 4 hours running. The timberwolf is new to me so i dont know much about its history.Since i have done the rings it does not use any oil.
Can anybody tell me
how to tune a mikuni carb on it?.
Thanks Ray
