I acquired a 1990 FZR 1000 a few months ago. The bike was not running so I have done what I could to correct that. The bike is running extremely rich from none to full throttle. It wants to stumble and die at idle and the two outside carbs spit fuel from the top. I also noticed that there is an o0ring missing in the number 1 carb. It is located under the diaphragm cover to prevent air from coming in on the top of the diaphragm. I have yet to rebuild the carbs.
Could the missing o-ring be the root cause for this condition? Would that cause for improper vacuum between them? Where can I find a tiny o-ring to replace it? The diaphragms look in good condition. The jets appear to be clear of debris. Overall, the bike is in great shape. |

I have replaced the missing o-ring. Bike does run better although it won't go above 7000 rpm and seems to lack power. It feels like you have to give extra throttle and slip the clutch to accelerate from a dead stop. Also the bike will not accelerate quickly even at full throttle. I have cleaned the cars very thoroughly. I am going to check for further vacuum leaks. Located in Denver at over 5000 foot altitude.
