Default I bought a new toy -

Hello, I wanted to introduce myself - I just bought a sweet little '70 CT-1, very original and low miles - I've always wanted one and I finally found one about an hour away - I'm hopin' to get a little help getting to know this little beast. If there's a way to post pictures, let me know, and I will.

Cool. I'm not sure if I can remember what I did, but it worked. Anyways, I'm going to pull the top off (it's leaking a little oil), change the gasket and scrape the carbon off the piston - just get an idea what it looks like, but it runs pretty good for being 40 years old. I don't think the cylinder head has ever been pulled off. One question - when I replace the seal/gasket, do I want to use gasket sealer on it, or don't use anything? It appears to be made of copper.

WOW! 40 years old and that thing looks great Dan!!! Looking at it makes me feel like I went back in time and was standing in the show room.

you need to aneal the old gasket if you don't have access to a new one ... btw is that a CT1E ?

I've got a new gasket; there's a delaer up the road that buys out old Yamaha dealer's stock, and he has just about all the NOS parts I could use. - The bike is a CT1-B, a 1970. So, I do need to put gasket sealer, or just the gasket by itself?
