50 hp yamaha stuttering then stalls

The boat ran fine until it started spitting while idling in gear then when I throttled it up it would get to 1800 elms and start shaking and missing horribly and I would throttle it up some and then it would go in to the unresponsive bog. It would crank right back up . It will throttle up in reverse . Could it be an auto chicks problem or what. Open to any suggestions thanx
