NEW YORK -- General Motors is shutting down its Swedish car brand, Saab, after attempts to close deal with a buyer failed.

GM had announced earlier this year that it was close to reaching a deal with Swedish super-carmaker Koenigsegg. That deal fell, though, because financing couldn't be arranged quickly enough.

Dutch exotic carmaker Spyker emerged as the lone remaining bidder for Saab, but a deal couldn't be concluded in time, GM said.

GM is going down the drain. Saab is the latest victim selling only like 10,000 units?! Started out with Pontiac slowing down production and eliminating models in late 2010. Then GM said it would be dropping Saturn from it's fleet and now this. My guess is that Hummer will be the next one to go since most people aren't looking to spend $50k on a gas guzzler like the H2.

Soon to American made cars. Hell they are now even trying to advertise that the Tundra is made in America. That's brutal when you have to advertise a Japanese car just so you can get some sales and keep American jobs.
