Default 86 YFM225 + HID lights

Hey I'm new to the forums so take it easy on me!

I was curious if a 1986 Yamaha YFM225 can have HID lights?

It have lights already but it would be nice to have more intense lighting on it.

I have one off topic question, this ATV it is shaft driven and I would like to know if a a 225 cc engine will swap with something a little bigger like a 350-400 cc engine?

this is a pic that I found of one that looks exactly like mine except mine is in the color Red

Thanks
Zach

I am not sure if HID's will mount up. If i had to guess i would say no. I would just add more lights to the ATV like some KC's or soemthing like that. As far as the motor upgrade, I would also say no. I am sure a conversion can be done. I mean I have seen ATV's with street bike motors in them, but would it be worth the time and money? For the money you could just get a total bike upgrade.

I don't see why it wouldn't be able to handle HID's. As long as you get the right bulb size for it you should be fine. Do you know what bulbs that thing uses?

Check out KryptonBulbs for hid kits. $50 shipped for a dual bulb kit.

Well here is the SKU for the bulb 102-84314-00-00 its 12V/25W bulb. here is website that pulled up after a quick google search of the SKU [Only registered can see links. ]

I dont know if that helps. Is the bulb size in H? Example, On that website the sizes are in H1, H2, H3 etc... what one do you think would be mine? I can upgrade the battery etc to accommodate the power needs.

Thanks
Zach

That's the headlight bulb? All you have to do is find out which size it is.
Your options are:
H1, H3, H4, H7, H8, H9, H10, H11, H13, 9004, 9005, 9006, 9007.
That's all for just low beam. If you want a hi/lo kit (if you have it on your quad now) then thare are other sizes.

You will not need to make accomadations on your battery since these units are plug and play. The HID's actually draw less power that the stock halogen bulbs so you don't have to worry about getting a bigger battery. Only thing you will need is a relay (or at least that's how it is with motorcycles) because at start up it draws a little more power but then once they are running you are golden.

Ok I did some more looking and this is what ive found the bulb size is a T-19 ([Only registered can see links. ])

yes, that is the headlight bulb. the wheeler has Hi/lo beam

Do you know what size a T-19 would be for a HID as I do not see a T-19 on the website.
