Default 1976 xs500 oil filter location

wondering if anyone can tell me where the oil filter is located on a 1976 yamaha xs500. thanks.

Welcome
The XS500 oil filter is located to the l/h side of the bike behind the crankcase cover (the one the clutch cable goes in) & the generator cover. It's gold in colour (if its genuine Yamaha) looks like an old car cartridge filter .... be sure to replace this filter at regular intervals or serious engine damage can result ! The filter blocked to easy & a couple of thousand miles was as much as it could handle
